This last weekend I've been pretty busy with family during the holiday, and also having to move out/in to a new place. I worked on making some bushes/ leaves. They look kind of real though so I'm not sure if they will fit into the cartoony aspect. I also made a raft boat. There are two different versions, one that has significantly less polygons.

11/27/11 debriefing
Today I worked on the chest model I made last week. I made some tweaks to the design, split the top from the rest of the chest and modeled an inside for the chest, then laid out UVs for the whole thing and put a simple texture on it. Then I animated an opening motion for it. Also I reworked the ladder model from last week to make it look more archaic/hand made. It now resembles a ladder made from logs and planks. Here are some shots.

11/21/11 debriefing
This week I've been busy working in other classes, and haven't had as much time to work. However, I was able to finish several models for the forest level, including: a well, a ladder, and a chest.
11/17/11 debriefing
Last Thursday I finished making the base models for the 3D Village houses, bringing the total to 9. They'll be textured later when we shift our focus off of the forest level.

11/15/11 debriefing
This week my job was to continue working on the village building assets. This time going from a full 3d approach. It's going well so far, here's some shots of the progress.
11/08/11 debriefing
Last week I forgot to add an entry,
basically what I did was go back and finish the tree art, and test a new method of modeling the building art.
The new theory was to still model them from a 3d perspective but still using a 2.5d model. Its hard to put in words so here are some screenshots.

It didn't work really how we wanted, the new plan is to make the models in full 3d. As will be in the next blog update.
Here are some pics of the new, more polished trees.

Wednesday, I worked with Greg to build the foundation of his concept of the spiral level. This is an interesting new idea that will create several layers of depth using the art actually planned for later ahead. After an hour or 2 in the lab this is the foundation we put together. Greg is currently designing the terrain of the level itself.

11/01/11 Weekend Recap ~
This week my task was to design basic level assets as they are produced. My main focus is on the village level, however this week I worked mainly on trees for the forest level designed by Tom. In addition I modeled some prototypes of a hut and boulder to be used in the village. I am currently tuning the models that I've been working on. Here are some screenshots of this week:
